Beijing, July 17, 2025, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expressed optimism about U.S.-China tech relations during his Beijing visit, coinciding with news that the U.S. may allow Nvidia to resume sales of its H20 AI chips to China. Huang met with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and tech leaders including Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, discussing AI, autonomous vehicles, and robotics.
Speaking to reporters, Huang emphasized Nvidia’s compliance with U.S. export policies, noting the decision to lift restrictions wasn’t his doing. However, he voiced hope for broader chip access in China, stating, “Technology is always moving on. It’s not like wood.”

Despite U.S. chip bans cutting Nvidia’s China market share nearly in half, Huang said the company is prepared to restart local supply chains once licenses are cleared—potentially within nine months.
He acknowledged Huawei as a “formidable competitor” with independent chip and AI ecosystems, and praised Chinese AI models like DeepSeek, Qwen, and Kimi for their innovation and open-source accessibility.
Huang ended the session by saying, “I hope to return again this year—you just have to invite me.”
